Today marks the 70th anniversary of Real Madrid's third league title. The Whites clinched the title in 1954 with a stunning 4-0 win over Valencia on the penultimate matchday. Di Stéfano, who struck a hat-trick, and Roque Olsen were the scorers in that match.

Real Madrid returned to win the league, a competition they had not been crowned champions in since 1933. That season was the first for Alfredo Di Stéfano, who began his love affiar with this competition and won the Pichichi Trophy of the championship.
