Description

This is the fourth socio-sporting school that the Real Madrid Foundation opened in the neighbouring Portugal. This centre is run by the local partner, Asociación Club Alma Branca. The school began operating in 2009 under the name of Escuelas de Portugal (Schools of Portugal) with the aim of catering for the needs of the infant and youth population of Guimarães and promoting local development through sport, leisure, social outreach, culture and education and the promotion of projects which are carried out during school reinforcement classes. In 2012, the school changed its name to the Asociación Clube Alma Branca whilst continuing to pursue the same objectives and adding football to its sporting activities. The link-up with the Real Madrid Foundation has enabled the school to improve its training standards, courtesy of the Real Madrid Foundation's methodology with its established training sessions which serve to make the activities more beneficial. The participants who take part in the project are boys and girls living in situations of social risk and youngsters who have been victims of violence or who come from single-parent families.
