Two days on from the record-breaking match against Maccabi, the Movistar Arena is gearing up to host another big European night. Real Madrid and Olympiacos, two of the continent's in-form teams right now, face off in a EuroLeague classic for the 42nd time (23 madridista wins to 18 defeats). Our boys have won six successive games in the competition, and will now be hoping to get the better of the leaders and close the gap at the top, not to mention closing out another double-header with a perfect record after Tuesday's win.
From one historic rival to the next. Chus Mateo's charges host another of the favourites for a Final Four spot, in what is sure to be a tough test of the madridistas' best run of the season to date. Our team have won eight in a row (six in the EuroLeague and two in the League), and are unbeaten in 2025. This positive streak has taken them to 12 EuroLeague wins, just three off Olympiacos at the summit. The Greeks are on a six-match winning run of their own, including Tuesday's success in Vitoria (101-102).
The Movistar Arena will play a key role in any victory. With both teams enjoying a purple patch, the minor details are bound to make the difference. Madrid will have to keep a close eye on players like Vezenkov, who averages 32 points in recent games against Bayern and Baskonia, McKissic, Fournier and Peters. Meanwhile, Hezonja, Campazzo and Musa are the top madridista point-scorers in the EuroLeague, averaging 14.4, 13.9 and 13.3 respectively. The Argentine point guard is fresh off a career-best display against Maccabi.
Recent encounters
Our team has won four of the last five against the Greek outfit. Aside from this season's away matchup, Madrid won all three games in the last campaign, including a semifinal meeting in Berlin. In 2023, we also came out on top in the final in Kaunas, thanks to Llull's unforgettable shot that clinched La Undécima. Tonight, the Movistar Arena is set to host another classic (8:45 pm CET).
