oday marks 33 years since Real Madrid clinched their third European Cup Winners' Cup. On 17 March 1992, the Whites edged PAOK in the final courtesy of a Ricky Brown basket with two seconds to go (65-63). As a result, Clifford Luyk’s team lifted the trophy in the French city of Nantes.

The Madridistas seemed to be on track to win the final in the first half and went into the break with a 15-point lead (43-28). But the Greeks rallied in the second half and levelled the score (63-63) with ten seconds to go. They even had the possession to win, but in a brilliant final move, Brown stole the ball and got the basket to clinch the Cup Winners' Cup for Real Madrid.

The road to the final
Before that, the team defeated Pro-Specs EBBC in the first round; they overcame Union Olimpija, Pau Orthez, Panionios, Benfica and Hapoel Galil Elyon in the quarter-final group; and Glaxo Verona in the semi-finals.
