Real Madrid won the title on 21 February 2016 with a victory over Gran Canaria.
It is nine years since Real Madrid won their 26th Copa del Rey basketball title. On 21 February 2016, the Whites beat Gran Canaria (81-85) in the final of the tournament, which was held in A Coruña. Ayón was decisive in the final with 15 points, 6 rebounds and a PIR of 23, and ended up being named MVP of the competition. As well as the Mexican, Carroll and Reyes also stood out, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively.
To win the title, Madrid beat Fuenlabrada in the quarter finals (101-84) and Baskonia in the semi-finals (80-86). Thanks to their win in the final, Real Madrid became the first team to win three consecutive Copas del Rey in the ACB era.
