Real Madrid will face Olympiacos in the Euroleague playoffs. After clinching qualification with a victory in the second Play-In game against Bayern Munich, our team finished eighth in the regular season and will now face the top-ranked team. The series will be a best-of-five with home-court advantage going to the Greek team. The first two games will be played at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Athens on Wednesday, 23rd April and Friday 25th April, both at 8:30 pm. The third game will take place at the Movistar Arena, as will the fourth game, if necessary. If a fifth game is required, it will be played away.

The clash between Madrid and Athens is one of the great historical rivalries in Europe. The first time they met was in the semi-finals of the 1978/79 FIBA European Champions Cup. Since then, they have played 54 games, with a favourable balance for our team (29-25). In between, there have been three finals in Madrid's favour (1995, 2015 and 2023) and one for Olympiacos (2013). This will be the third time that the two teams have met in the Euroleague quarter-finals. Olympiacos won in 2008/09 and Madrid in 2013/14.

Recent precedent going up against home court advantage
Madrid already know what it's like to overcome a tie when going up against home court advantage: the 2017/18 season against Panathinaikos. They lost the first game but won the next three. It was the year of Llull's return from injury and the tenth European Cup, which was won in Belgrade.
