Rudy Fernández and Sergio Rodríguez were presented with the Spanish Basketball Federation's Special Award at the fifth edition of this ceremony, which was held at the Madrid racecourse. The award honours the outstanding professional careers of the two madridistas.

Rudy, who is currently training with the Spanish national team ahead of the Pre-Olympic tournament, said: “You have to have total ambition and we're ready for that. The last moments that I will spend on the court I will continue to give my all. We're fully committed to the Pre-Olympic tournament. I've been lucky enough to win so many medals alongside El Chacho and Llull, as well as other players. Now I hope I get the gift of my sixth Olympic Games.”

Meanwhile, Sergio Rodríguez said: “It's been a process over several months because I'd been thinking about retiring. I've received a lot of calls and messages of support in the weeks since I announced it. I hope they remember me as a player who had fun on the court and worked hard to win.”
