Chus Mateo: "We played a great first half"
"We played more around Tavares tonight. Sometimes, we forget how good he is," the coach explained after the victory against Asvel.
Chus Mateo analysed Real Madrid's win over Asvel on Euroleague gameday 30: "We had an excellent first half, moving the ball and understanding the game. We looked to dominate the inside game with Tavares and, from there, we started to build up a lead of more than 20 points. We knew they were a good team and they managed to reduce the difference in the last quarter, but we were solid at the end."
"We played a smart game, especially in the first half, where we moved the ball around very well. In the second half, we made some hasty decisions and didn't move the ball around as well. Their pressure also created problems for us in terms of identifying advantages, but I'm happy with the victory."
Tavares’ match
"Today we played much more with him as a focal point. Sometimes we forget how good he is. He was very good going forward today, but he also contributes a lot in defence. I'm happy for him."
Gameplay
"Every game is different. Taking a 24-point lead conditions the rest of the game and the way you work on it. Sometimes you take your foot off the gas, but I wanted to rotate players because on Sunday we're going to Malaga, then we have Milan here and then we visit Red Star."
