The leaders consolidate top spot at the Palau by beating Barcelona for the fifth time this season and secure qualification for the league playoffs.

Another fantastic week for Real Madrid in the decisive stretch of the season. Three days after the victory against Paris Basketball, the Whites defeated Barcelona at the Palau in the 26th round of the League and extended both their streak of consecutive victories against the Azulgranas (5 this season and 8 in total) and also in the League (14), remaining undefeated in 2025. In addition, they mathematically qualified for the playoffs for the title. Chus Mateo's team won in a Clasico in which they were better in the second and third quarters, before getting the win in the final minute. The quartet of Tavares (15 points, 10 rebounds and 24 PIR), Llull (19 and 20), Musa (15 and 16) and Feliz (14 and 11) was decisive.
Madrid started the first quarter on top, although the balance gradually shifted. Their switching defense (Deck on Punter and Garuba on Parker) and the success from the perimeter, with Llull firing on all cylinders (8 straight points with 2 three-pointers), gave our team the lead after a 0-11 run (4-11, min. 4). But Barcelona ended up wresting the initiative in these first 10 minutes (24-20).
Madrid regain control
The team solved the rebounding issue under its hoop and things started to flow. From there, they constructed their attack, overcoming the blaugranas’ defensive balance. The second unit, led by Feliz and Musa, and with a dominant Tavares in the zone, was extinguishing the home side’s offensive flame. After 14 minutes, at 31-26, they imposed their rhythm with more players getting on the scoreboard and achieving another important 16-8 partial in their favor to win the second quarter (15-22) and go into halftime leading (39-42).
The tension increased in the third quarter. Madrid were solid in defense and patient in the static attack, finding a Tavares who was inflicting damage and unsettling Parker and Fall. Llull and Campazzo put Chus Mateo's team +9 with 50-59 in the 26th minute. The game had lost pace owing to the continuous stoppages for refereeing decisions for unsportsmanlike and technicals. The situation benefited Barcelona, who managed to tie the score at 59 in the next three minutes. But it didn't last long, because the Madridistas responded with an excellent last minute of the third quarter, where Ibaka led a 9-2 run rounded off by a three-pointer by Musa at the buzzer (61-68).
Cold head and nerves of steel to win
Barcelona came out better in the last quarter. With Tavares on the bench, the azulgranas came back and started a new game with 7 minutes to play. Feliz and Brizuela were driving their respective teams. The blaugrana shooting guard made it 83-82 with 1:39 to play and the Palau ramping up the pressure. And that's when Madrid unleashed its winning DNA, responding with two consecutive three-pointers from Llull and Musa after a great offensive rebound by Tavares, to make it 83-88 with 35 seconds left. Barcelona tried to trouble the scoreboard but the leaders held firm from the line and another offensive rebound from the Cape Verdean center ended up securing the second victory at the Palau this season (89-91, min. 40).
