Real Madrid deliver disciplined display to beat EuroLeague leaders. Campazzo (28 PIR) and Tavares (26) the top performers.

Real Madrid refused to be overawed by the Adidas Arena, taking a hard-fought win over EuroLeague leaders Paris Basketball. Chus Mateo’s boys once again stood up tall against a fearsome challenge, delivering a disciplined, physical display to record their seventh win in the competition so far. Tavares, with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Campazzo (28 PIR) were the standout players for our team.
The Parisian outfit came out the blocks slightly slicker, with Lo doing diligent work in offense (10-5; min. 5). From that point, Madrid fine-tuned the minor details and got their heads down. Musa and Campazzo took to the court and our team quickly began to move the ball better, while Hezonja provided the accuracy around the hoop and Tavares proved dominant as ever on the post. The madridistas were relentless, racing to a 7-21 run to take the opening quarter (17-26).
Finely balanced second quarter
Paris Basketball stepped up to the challenge in the second period, edging the scores closer once again (24-29). But Chus Mateo's boys were able to react well thanks to the irrepressible duo of Tavares-Campazzo. The Cape Verde center took 8 rebounds for a PIR of 21 inside 15 minutes, while the Argentine was once again our offensive spearhead (14 points). The hosts were being overrun at times, but the Hifi and Lo partnership kept them within touching distance and half-time came around at 48-52.
The Parisians switched on after the break, and within three minutes the scores were tied (55-55). Madrid looked to Musa for added energy, and began to find cracks in the rival defense. The Bosnian teamed up with Abalde to storm to a 2-11 run (58-68) but the French outfit didn't let their heads drop, hitting back once more with some good shooting from outside and more points for Lo (67-70, min. 30).
Madrid seal valuable win
The fans were right behind their team now, and only a flawless fourth quarter would see Madrid take victory. Faced with swift transitions, Chus Mateo's boys delivered a sublime exhibition of collective basketball with everyone playing their part (75-80; min. 35). Tavares was tireless at both ends of the courts, posting 14 rebounds and breathing life into our team. The hosts fought hard to the end, but were unable to handle Madrid as Hezonja (16 points) and Deck stepped up to bear the offensive load and clinch a hugely valuable victory in Paris (85-96).
