Training for coaches at Foundation's school in Poland
More than 150 beneficiaries of the school in Elk, northern Poland, learned about sport and values through collaboration with Salesian Missions.
The educators and coaches of the Real Madrid Foundation’s socio-sports school in Elk (Poland), which has been operating since 2023 in collaboration with the Salesian Missions, the Salesian Province of Eastern Poland and the NGO UKS Salos Elk, have received the second on-site training in football and basketball under the methodology For a Real Education: Values and Sport. This socio-sports school caters for 180 beneficiaries at risk of social exclusion.
The football, basketball and values training sessions delivered under the methodology of the Real Madrid Foundation were addressed to 14 participants, including more experienced coaches along with other newcomers. On this occasion, the course focused on enhancing their knowledge of the Foundation's methodology and improving their skills in the application of the manual Coaching football: teaching values and Valorcesto: teaching values. As a result of this training and the considerable interest of the participants, a rapid progression in the design and structure of the tasks and sessions that they provided during the different practical sessions was observed. The practical part of the course was conducted with the active participation of the beneficiaries, including six girls who had recently joined the project in their basketball section.
The socio-sports activities contribute to the integration of these children into school life, in response to the serious socio-economic problems common to the community of Elk. Through sport and the socio-educational activities provided by the project (psychological support, nutritional support, annual medical check-up, school reinforcement classes, educational talks on healthy eating, alcoholism and drug addiction, workshops for girls, etc.) many of the participants in the socio-sports school have seen their integral development improve. The practice of educational sport is an opportunity to lead a healthy life and to put into practice values such as motivation for effort, teamwork, equality and respect.
