Julio González Ronco, managing director of the Real Madrid Foundation, travelled to Saudi Arabia, where he was welcomed by Abdulrahman Alghofaili, director general of Riyadh Schools. This was for the signing of the collaboration agreement protocol for the development of the Educational Football Program in Saudi Arabia, which began on 1 July 2024. The event was attended by Jorge Hevia, Spanish ambassador to Saudi Arabia, who has supported the project from the outset.

After a collaboration spanning more than 10 years between the Fundación Real Madrid and Riyadh Schools, a new phase has begun, through the Educational Football Program, a sports and educational programme aimed at boys and girls, which uses the methodology of the organisation Por una educación Real: Valores y deporte (For a Real Education: Values and Sport), which combines the teaching of values with the practice of football.

The project is currently being conducted at two sites: at the Riyadh Schools and the SEK school. It also runs a programme in the paediatric cardiology unit of the King Faisal Specialistel Hospital, using sport as a tool for social inclusion and wellbeing. This initiative reflects the commitment of both organisations to harness football for community impact.

Program expansion
The aim is to expand the program by opening two new sites in Riyadh and two additional sites in other cities across the country, expanding the football education program in the country.
