It was on 18 April 1905 that Real Madrid won their first Spanish Cup. They did so by beating Athletic Club 1-0 in the final. That tournament was played in Madrid and was a three-way contest between San Sebastián and reigning champions Athletic Club. In the first match, the Whites beat the team from San Sebastián 3-0.

In the next match against Athletic Club, Prast scored the goal that put Madrid's name on the competition's trophy for the first time. This win marked the beginning of a period of dominance for Real Madrid in the Spanish Cup, as our club went on to win four consecutive editions. 120 years later, Real Madrid has won the title 20 times.
