Japan was the scene for Real Madrid's fifth Club World Cup triumph back in 2016. They got their hands on the trophy with a win over Kashima Antlers (4-2) in a pulsating final that was decided in extra-time. Benzema put Madrid ahead before the Japanese side turned it around with a Shibasaki double. Cristiano Ronaldo levelled from the spot to force the game into extra-time. The Portuguese ace played a key role in the extra period with two more goals to hand our team the Club World Cup.
 
América in the semi-finals 
In the opening game of the tournament, the madridistas faced Mexican side Club América in the semi-final. Just like in the grand finale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo were both on the scoresheet. The Frenchman made it 1-0 in the first half and an time-added-on in the second, the Portuguese forward made it two.
