47th anniversary of Madrid's 18th Copa de España in basketball

Today marks 47 years since Real Madrid clinched their 18th Copa de España basketball crown. On 26 June 1977, the Whites edged out Barcelona 97-71 in the final in Palma de Mallorca. Brabender was the top scorer with 33 points. On the road to the final match, the madridistas finished first in the Group Stage and beat Joventut in the semi-finals over two legs.
Lolo Sainz's side continued to dominate the competition and claimed their seventh Copa in the last eight editions. It was also the third trophy of the season, after winning the Intercontinental Cup and the league title.
