Castilla pick up a point away at Villarreal B

Real Madrid Castilla picked up a point away at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza. Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw in the clash with Villarreal B after Víctor Muñoz had opened the scoring in the 70th minute. However, in the final stretch of the match, the home side restored parity. Raúl’s boys will now turn their focus to their next commitment in the Primera Federación, which sees the Whites take on Betis Deportivo at the Alfredo Di Stéfano (Sunday, 12 pm CEST).

During the opening exchanges, it was an evenly balanced affair. The Madridistas, who showed more attacking intent, had the first chance of the game in the 27th minute, when Asencio headed a corner just wide of the post. The opposition's riposte came two minutes later when Fabio Blanco's shot from the edge of the area sailed wide. In the 36th minute, Fran González prevented Villarreal B from taking the lead by parrying Etta Eyong's cross-shot with a great reflex save. On the stroke of half-time, Loren Zúñiga also had a chance to open the scoring after latching on to a clever pass in the box, but his effort was thwarted by the goalkeeper when he found himself one-on-one with the goalie.

The deadlock is broken
After the restart, the home side went in search of the opener and Joseda tried his luck with a long-range attempt that again forced Fran González into a fine save (51'). Soon after, the Whites hit back with a downward header from Gonzalo that Rubén Gómez expertly parried away. On the hour mark, Campos had a good effort from the edge of the area but the keeper pushed it behind for a corner. The Madrid persistence paid off in the 70th minute when Víctor Muñoz powered home from David Jiménez's pass to make it 0-1. But in the 81st minute, Etta Eyong popped up in the box to restore parity. Both teams could have snatched the win in the closing minutes, but the goalkeepers stood their ground and the match ended 1-1.
