Kroos and Rüdiger became the first madridistas to book their place in the quarter-finals of the European Championship after Germany beat Denmark at Signal Iduna Park. Both players started and played the full 90 minutes of the clash. The hosts will play the winners of the Spain-Georgia match in the next round on Friday at 6 pm (CEST).

After a closely contested first half, which was interrupted for more than 20 minutes by a heavy thunderstorm, Germany struck in the second period. They took the lead through Havertz's penalty in the 53rd minute after the VAR alerted the referee to a handball by Andersen. A quarter of an hour later, Musiala made it 2-0 to secure their place in the quarter-finals.
