Raúl Asencio was given a standing ovation by the Santiago Bernabéu when he was substituted in the 83rd minute. The academy product gave a strong performance in the victory against Athletic and helped the team keep a clean sheet. After the match, he spoke to Realmadrid TV: “We're very happy. It was an important game and it was tough. The team worked together and we deserved the win”.
