Today marks the 92nd anniversary of Real Madrid's second football league title. On 19 March 1933, the Whites mathematically clinched the title on the penultimate matchday of the competition. The Madridistas beat Arenas de Guecho 8-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Luis Regueiro, braces from Olivares and Hilario and a goal from Lazcano.

That year, Real Madrid finished in first place with 28 points, followed by Athletic with 26. Olivares became the club's first-ever top scorer and Ricardo Zamora was the goalkeeper who conceded the fewest goals in the league. The Madridista squad was coached by Firth and they defended the title they had won the previous season.
