Joselu is celebrating his 34th birthday today. The forward, who is enjoying his first campaign with the Real Madrid first team, was born on 27 March 1990 in Stuttgart (Germany) and joined our club's academy set-up in 2010 to play for Castilla. He was top scorer in both of his two seasons with the youth team. In the second, 2011-12, he played a key role in lifting the Segunda División title, hitting 19 goals in the regular season and a further 7 in the promotion play-offs.

His performances for Castilla saw him make his Real Madrid debut on 21 May 2011 against Almería at the Santiago Bernabéu. Just three minutes after coming off the bench in the LaLiga clash, he opened his goalscoring account. He also got his name on the scoresheet in the following campaign, netting in his only appearance against Ponferradina in the Copa del Rey.

14 goals this season
Having been LaLiga's leading Spanish marksman last term (16 goals for Espanyol), he returned to the club's first-team this summer and has already made 38 appearances, scoring 14 goals. He has found the net in every competition he's played so far (8 in LaLiga, 3 in the Champions League, 2 in the Copa del Rey and 1 in the Spanish Super Cup), proving decisive in the Spanish Super Cup win. He's also a full Spain international, winning the Nations League 2023 and hitting the winning goal against Italy in the semi-finals.
