62nd anniversary of club's 9th league title
On 17 March 1963, Real Madrid clinched the title with five matchdays remaining in the competition.

62 years ago, Real Madrid secured their 9th league title. The match that decided the title was the Madrid derby at the Bernabéu against Atlético Madrid, which was won by the Madridistas courtesy of a Puskas brace and goals by Amancio and Félix Ruiz (4-3).
That season ended with Real Madrid in first place with 49 points. Atlético de Madrid were second with 37. With 26 goals, Puskás was the league’s top scorer while Vicente won the Zamora Trophy. That Madrid squad was coached by Miguel Muñoz, who won his third consecutive La Liga title at the helm of the team.
