Real Madrid lost against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Whites could have taken the lead in the 13th minute. Tárrega felled Mbappé in the area, Cuadra Fernández awarded the penalty, and, after being called by Figueroa Vázquez from the VAR to review it on the monitor, he upheld his decision. It was taken by Vini Jr., who put it to Mamardashvili’s left, but the spot kick was saved. From a possible 1-0 it became 0-1. A corner kick was hung up by Almeida and Diakhaby's header ended up in the back of the net (15'). The visiting defender was the protagonist six minutes later when he put the ball into his own goal, but the equaliser was disallowed due to Mbappé being in an offside position.
Valencia had another chance from a corner through Diakhaby, his powerful header going into the side-netting (24'). After the half-hour mark, Madrid went on the attack and there were two good chances for Mbappé: first, flashing a right-footed shot that took a small nick off a defender to divert it just wide; shortly after, his fierce right-footed effort was repelled by Mamardashvili. Our team's clearest chance came in the 41st minute. An impressive run from his own half into the opponent's area by Bellingham, whose low shot went just wide of the left post.
Vini Jr. scored the equaliser
Ancelotti's men stepped up the tempo after the break and the equaliser was not long in coming. Modrić swung in a near-post corner, Bellingham flicked it on and Vini Jr. got to the ball ahead of Jesús Vázquez to make it 1-1 with his right foot (50'). Valencia replied through another Diakhaby header, but debutant Fran González was alert between the sticks (64'). Our team went back on the attack immediately. Fran García cut back a pass to Mbappé, who, while on the floor, toe-poked a shot that went within a hair's breadth of the left post.
Our team were leaving no stone unturned in search of the win. In the 70th minute, Mbappé went all the way to the byline and linked up in the six-yard box with Valverde, whose close-range shot was saved with a tremendous stop by Mamardashvili. Madrid pushed forward, aiming to breach the opposing goalline but Valencia took advantage and, in stoppage time, Hugo Duro made it 1-2 on a counterattack.
