Real Madrid will not be able to retain the Cup title after losing in extra time in another thrilling derby, played at the Cívitas Metropolitano. The first dangerous move, very clear, was for our team after eleven minutes. Bellingham, on the edge of the area, beat Witsel and De Paul with two beautiful manoeuvres and his subsequent shot crashed against the crossbar. Nine minutes later, Ancelotti's side tried again. Vini Jr. spotted Rodrygo's run at the back of the defence and played the ball into the box. His compatriot controlled with his back to the ball, turned and as he was about to shoot, Giménez popped up to stick his leg out towards his goal and force Oblak into a great save.

Atletico's response came in the 22nd minute when De Paul's header was met by a diving Lunin. The game was becoming very physical, played at a fast pace, and the home side took the lead in one of the few chances they had. De Paul crossed, Rüdiger tried to head the ball out for a corner and Lino popped up at the far post to beat Lunin in the 39th minute. Just when it looked like it would be 1-0 at half-time, our team equalised. Modrić took a free-kick in stoppage time and Oblak, in his attempt to clear, put the ball into his own net.

The tempo did not drop at the start of the second half. Ancelotti's side continued to press high, but Atlético went ahead again from an isolated chance. Marcos Llorente's cross was turned away by CamavingaLunin tried to clear but left the ball at the feet of Morata, who made it 2-1 in the 57th minute. It was time to react again and Real Madrid kept pushing Atlético towards their goal until they deserved, at least, the equaliser. It could have come in the 75th minute, but Rodrygo's shot inside the box with the outside of his right foot hit Giménez and crashed against the crossbar. It was the second time our team had been denied by the crossbar.

Joselu makes it 2-2
Morata could have made it 3-2 in a one-on-one in which Lunin was better. It was the preamble to the 2-2, which came in the immediate aftermath. Vini Jr. gave the ball to Bellingham, and the Englishman feigned to shoot before surprising Joselu with a brilliant assist, who headed the ball into the net. With this result it went to extra time, although Ancelotti's side could have avoided it in stoppage time. Rüdiger crossed and Oblak, on the goal line, cleared Vini Jr's acrobatic finish. Real Madrid dominated extra time, but Griezmann made it 3-2 in the 100th minute. The second half of extra time belonged to our team, who tried until the end and could have sent the tie to penalties with Ceballos' goal in 110', which was disallowed for a very tight offside by Bellingham. With our team looking for the equaliser, Riquelme scored on a counter-attack.
