Real Madrid are gearing up for their Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Alfredo Di Stéfano this evening. They face an Arsenal side who sit second in the English league table, but the goal will be to wrest the initiative in a tie set to be decided at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 26, from 9:00 pm CET.
“We're going to produce a great tie,” assured Toril in the pre-match press conference. Toletti also spoke to the media, underlining the excitement in the madridista camp and reflecting on the key elements of the first leg: "The fans' support will be vital, I'm sure they'll be right behind us, and we have to show our character."
Arsenal
The English outfit finished top in the Women’s Champions League Group Stage, winning five in a row following an opening-day defeat. They boast an impressive away record this season, losing only three of the 13 games they've played on the road (9 wins and a draw). Forward Alessia Russo and Norwegian midfielder Frida Maanum have both played all 31 games for Arsenal so far this campaign - the striker is the team's leading scorer with 15 to her name (10 in the league and 5 in European competition).
