Alberto Toril and Caroline Weir spoke to the press on the eve of the quarterfinal second leg clash between Arsenal and Real Madrid (Wednesday, 9:00 pm CET). The coach discussed the match at London's Emirates Stadium: “We know it's going to be a difficult game. We're up against opposition with a range of strengths. We have the utmost respect for them and despite our good result in the opener, they'll surely be keen to put us under pressure in front of their fans. We're ready to put on a good display and manage the moments in the game well. We have to be fully focused, with high concentration levels and confidence if we want to come through.”
Misa looks in great shape, just like the rest of the team. We know the crucial moments and the team has stuck together and everyone has given it their all. We're absolutely focused on coming through the tie. We have a historic opportunity to get to a place we've never been before. It's a fantastic experience to be among the best four sides in Europe. It's a top-level game with a wonderful atmosphere. We're used to playing in front of loads of fans and this is a great game to be involved in."
Playing at the Bernabéu
“We'll try and do a good job, we're making progress and we'll continue to do so. We're getting closer to winning trophies all the time. When the club decides it's the right time for us to play there, we'll do it. We're delighted to be playing at a stadium that carries the name of the club's best ever player. When the time comes, we'll approach it in the best possible way."
Current form
“The players are feeling good, it's normal to be thrilled after the weekend we've had, that's to be expected. But they also know this is a historic moment and we're playing for the chance to be in the semifinals. They're ready to compete in every sense. We know we have to be at 100%, we have to read the game well. It'll be tough but we're totally focus. Above all, it's about believing in ourselves and having that winning mentality. We're more than capable and the girls believe it too."
Weir: “I'm expecting a great atmosphere”
“It'll be a difficult game but the team is hungry and we're ready for tomorrow after the weekend we had. I'm sure the win the other day will give us confidence. We worked really hard for it and I think it'll help us press on. They're a great side and they won at the weekend as well, they have lots of good players."
“It's always special to go back and play in England but I'm focused on the game and helping the team win it. I'm expecting a great atmosphere but we've already played in similar settings and if we want to compete, we have to be able to do that wherever we are."
