Real Madrid picked up an impressive win in the Clásico clash in the league in Barcelona. Our team went ahead at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium thanks to a superb Redondo header prior to the break. Graham Hansen rose to level with her head in the second half, before Weir struck with 88 minutes gone, going on to complete her brace in added time to hand the madridistas the win. It was a fine away performance by Toril's team, who showed great defensive solidity built around the inspired Misa.

Madrid flew out the blocks and quickly began to cause problems for the hosts. As the minutes ticked by though, Barcelona took control of the ball and managed to lower the tempo imposed by Toril's girls early on. The home side could have gone ahead with 15 minutes played, as Schertenleib let off a fierce strike from the edge of the box but Misa got a finger-tip to the ball to send it behind.

The game gradually started to open up again, with the madridistas looking threatening down both flanks. It was indeed Møller's whipped ball from the lefthand side which led to the opener, as Redondo rose highest in the box to put Real Madrid in front. Graham could have levelled on 45’, but Misa ensured our team headed down the tunnel at half-time in the lead.

Weir brace seals the points
Our team continued to press, while Barcelona were eager to square the game up. Misa was once again called into action, doing superbly to keep out another Graham effort, although the forward did make it 1-1 shortly afterwards when she latched onto a decent cross. With 80 on the clock, the referee ruled out the hosts' goal for offside, and soon after, Weir tipped the clash back in our favour following some fine play by Linda. With the game now all over the place under an intense hailstorm, the Scottish ace completed her double to clinch the Clásico in time added on.
