The idea of forming a fan club in the heart of the Caribbean came up in 1999. "Some of us got together for lunch and thought about taking a trip to the Spanish capital to see the game between Real Madrid and Barcelona live," said the President to Realmadrid.com, "I sent a fax to the Club requesting some tickets and they replied immediately saying that they were available for us. Days later, we travelled to Madrid and saw the game. The great experience inspired us to establish the fan club when we returned home."

Most of the members of the fan club are Spanish long-time residents in Puerto Rico; several other members are Puerto Rican; and the rest come from other parts of the world. They are all united by their Madridismo and meet every Tuesday at their headquarters, the Restaurant El Chotis, after which they named the fan club. "We talk about the games they have played and share our views on the team," said Armando, "Every six months, members of our families are also invited to attend our meetings."

The restaurant is always packed whenever there is a game. "We watch them on a big screen live, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, depending on when the game takes place in Spain," continued Armando, "We never miss a game." Some of the fan club members travel once a year to Madrid to see the Real Madrid-Barcelona Clasico game live. "We also try to get tickets for any game at the Bernabéu for those members who are going to Madrid on holiday," said the President.
