Sergio Rodríguez was a key player in one of the most important periods of success in our history. During his 8 seasons defending our jersey, divided into two stints (2010-2016) and (2022-2024), he won 17 trophies: 2 Euroleagues, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 4 Leagues, 5 Copa del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups. He was also Euroleague MVP and member of the best five in the 2013-2014 season, MVP of the Spanish Supercup in 2013 and voted 3 times member of the best five in the League (2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2015-2016). A uniquely different point guard who brought joy to Madrid fans thanks to his fantasy game and his impossible passes.

At the age of 18, El Chacho made his professional debut at Estudiantes before moving to the NBA at the age of 20. 
There he played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks before joining Real Madrid. Following a first stint of 6 seasons at our club, in 2017 he returned to the North American League to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Sergio Rodríguez played a total of 358 games in the NBA. He returned to Europe in 2017 to play for CSKA Moscow, where he won 1 Euroleague and 2 Leagues; and for Olimpia Milan (winning 1 League, 2 Cups and 1 Italian Supercup). In 2022 he returned to Real Madrid and was instrumental in winning the 11th EuroLeague title in Kaunas.

The presence of Sergio Rodríguez is also important and legendary in the Spanish national team, having been capped 154 times by the Spanish national team. In 2006 he won the World Cup in Japan and the European Championship in France in 2015. He has also won 2 silver medals (2012 Olympic Games and 2007 European Championship) and 3 bronze medals (2013 and 2017 European Championships and 2016 Olympic Games). On an individual level, Sergio Rodríguez was named in the best five at the 2015 European Championship.
