2-2: a draw for Castilla thanks to a Jacobo double
The reserve team came back from behind twice against Villarreal B, the second time in the 93rd minute, in a match from which they deserved more.
Real Madrid Castilla drew against Villarreal B in a game in which they had chances to take all three points. Four days after making his debut with the first team, Jacobo Ramón was the star with two goals (Including a 93rd-minute equaliser) with the visitors scoring in the early stages of either half. Our reserve team, who claimed a possible penalty on Pol Fortuny in the 41st minute, have now gone three games unbeaten at the start of 2025.
Villarreal B took the lead after just four minutes with a long-range effort from Eyoung. From then on, Castilla dominated possession and forced their opponents to retreat. Raul's side were patient until eventually getting their reward from a set-piece. Pol Fortuny's free-kick found Jacobo coming in round the back who connected with a diving header that beat Iker Álvarez and made it 1-1 in the 14th minute. The game opened up a little, but it was Castilla who generated the better chances with two shots inside the box from Víctor Muñoz, one of which rattled the crossbar, and shots from Ribes and Pol Fortuny. The latter claimed a possible penalty before the break after falling inside the area in an action with Solà, but the referee waved it away.
Jacobo, protagonist
The game took another twist after the return from the dressing rooms. Valverde, who had come on in the second half, scored Villarreal B's second in the 46th minute. The injury to Víctor Muñoz was another setback for the reserve team. Raúl made five substitutions in an attempt to change the flow of the game. Gonzalo had the chance to equalise in the 81st minute, but his shot went narrowly wide. Castilla continued to insist and never stopped believing in a comeback. With the game in stoppage time, another magnificent header from Jacobo made the final score 2-2.
