The Real Madrid midfielder was named in the starting line-up and played the full 90 minutes of the clash at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, which ended goalless.
In the last 16, England will play the third-placed team from one of these groups: D/E/F (Sunday, 30 June, 6 pm CEST).
