Real Madrid were unable to lift the Spanish Super Cup, losing in the final to Barcelona at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. Both teams enjoyed chances to break the deadlock early on in the clash. Pajor thought she'd put Barcelona ahead with 7 minutes gone, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for offside. Linda Caicedo hit back shortly afterwards with a shot across goal which was deflected behind by Irene Paredes.
With half-an-hour gone, Graham opened the scoring with an effort from the edge of the box, which took a nick off the madridista defender to beat Misa. On 36’, Pajor doubled the lead when she struck from inside the box, before she completed her brace with a header to make it three in first-half injury time.
Madrid looked to cut the deficit after the restart, but Patri Guijarro hit a fourth for Barcelona with 62 minutes played. In the closing stages, Alexia Putellas made it 5-0 to close the game out. Our team's next game comes on Friday at home against Espanyol (8:00 pm CET).
