First anniversary of the eighth Club World Cup
On 11 February 2023, Real Madrid were crowned world champions, beating Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal 5-3 in the final in Rabat.
One year ago today, Real Madrid got their hands on an eighth Club World Cup crown. They ran out winners at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which hosted the semi-final clash with Egypt's Al Ahly (1-4) and the final against Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal (5-3). Vini Jr. and Valverde each hit a double in the title decider, while Benzema was the other madridista goalscorer. In the opening game of the tournament, Vini Jr., Valverde, Rodrygo and Arribas all found the net.
Following the final, Vini Jr. was named player of the tournament thanks to his superb performances across both games. The trophy was added to those lifted in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the three Intercontinental Cups (1960, 1998 and 2002) to complete an unmatched haul in the competition.
