49th anniversary of club's 18th basketball league title
On 20 March 1976, Real Madrid were crowned champions after beating Barcelona (114-76).

It was 49 years ago today that Real Madrid clinched their 18th basketball league title. On 20 March 1976, the Whites mathematically claimed the title by overcoming Barcelona (114-76) with five games remaining in the championship. Lolo Sainz’s side finished the league with a record of 29 wins and 3 defeats.
In that edition, the competition was divided into two parts. First, the Regular Season, in which Real Madrid finished as the strongest team. Then, a second phase between the teams with the most victories, where the Madridistas secured the title with five matchdays to go. Walter Szczerbiak was the top scorer of the competition with an average of 30.9 points per game. As a result, the Whites clinched their ninth consecutive league title.
